Key Stage Test Results 2008 - update week beginning November 17

Readers will be aware that the Department's Head of Profession for Statistics decided to delay publication of provisional KS3 results at the local authority level until there was sufficient volume of data for every local authority in all three subjects (English, Mathematics and Science) to enable publication of a complete set of provisional results on a consistent basis for all local authorities. The Head of Profession also kept open the option of publishing a further SFR in October giving Key Stage 3 national and local authority information. At that point the Head of Profession would review the volumes of data across local authorities along with any further advice from Ofqual and the National Statistician, to inform his decision.

The Head of Profession has now reviewed the position taking into account advice from the National Statistician and Ofqual. While the volumes of data are now satisfactory, the Head of Profession has decided to not publish a further SFR until the outcomes of the review process on levels of attainment are clearer. A further statement will be issued on this website in December.
