A copy of the report was sent to the Welsh Language Board with a covering letter.

CYNLLUN IAITH CYMRAEG YR ADRAN ADDYSG A SGILIAU

Am ragor o wybodaeth am y gwasanaethau y mae'r adran yn eu darparu i'r cyhoedd yng Nghymru, gweler cynllun yr iaith cymraeg

Mae'r cynllun yn amlinellu sut mae'r adran yn bwriadu trin y Cymraeg a'r Saesneg yn gyfartal wrth ddarparu gwasanaethau i'w gwsmeriaid yng Nghymru. Mae'n nodi, er enghraifft, trefniadau ar gyfer ymdrin â gohebiaeth, cyhoeddi dogfennau yn y Cymraeg a'r Saesneg a hysbysebu gweithgarwch a gwasanaethau'r adran yng Nghymru.

Cyfrifoldeb y Cynulliad Cenedlaethol yw'r mwyafrif o swyddogaethau addysg a hyfforddiant yng Nghymru, yn hytrach na'r Adran Addysg a Sgiliau. Nid yw'r cynllun yn berthnasol ond i'r meysydd hynny lle mae'r Adran Addysg a Sgiliau yn gyfrifol am ddarparu gwasanaeth yng Nghymru, sy'n cael eu rhestru ym mharagraff 6 o'r cynllun. Derbyniodd y Cynllun gymeradwyaeth Bwrdd yr Iaith Cymraeg ar 28 Mawrth 2000.

DEPARTMENT FOR EDUCATION AND SKILLS WELSH LANGUAGE SCHEME

For further information about the services which the Department provides to the public in Wales, please see Welsh Language Scheme

The scheme sets out how the department intends to treat the Welsh and English languages on a basis of equality when providing services to its customers in Wales. It specifies, for example, arrangements for dealing with correspondence, publishing documents in Welsh and English and advertising the department’s activities and services in Wales.

Most education and training functions in Wales are the responsibility of the National Assembly, rather than Department for Education and Skills. The scheme applies only to those areas where Department for Education and Skills is responsible for delivering a service in Wales, which are listed in paragraph 6 of the scheme. The Scheme received the endorsement of the Welsh Language Board on 28 March 2000.
